The P-LINK Pickup Interchange System by Pratley Guitars is coming to Kickstarter from August 19th. This small Australian guitar builder based on the Gold Coast looks to have come up with something very interesting indeed.

30 Seconds!

Yes, you read that correctly: only 30 seconds to change your guitar pickups. You will need a guitar already routed for humbuckers, but that is pretty much the only caveat.

Essentially Pratley Guitars have designed an ingenious system that involves an ABS plastic housing which lives in the guitar’s humbucker cavity. You then drop the pickup of your choice into place in a cradle, and off you go. The electrical contacts are all achieved with a system that involves minimal effort and no soldering (after the initial cradle has been installed into your guitar, that is).

Quality Engineering?

I have to say I think this man has really stumbled onto something great with is product. For one it means you can use any brand of pickup and mix and match. Single coils, P90s, or humbuckers will all fit into the system. This means you aren’t locked into only using one manufacturer’s product. If you prefer DiMarzio to Seymour Duncan or Bare Knuckle to Suhr, then you can just switch pickups in under a minute!

Open Ended

This ‘open ended’ system is perfect for players that like to experiment with guitars or just try out new pickups in their favourite guitar. So I really hope it hits its crowdfunding goal. The Kickstarter page goes live on 19th August, but check out the video below and the link to the Pratley Guitars website or their Facebook page to read all about them.

We at gearnews wish them the best of luck with this great idea!
