Orange Amplification and Blast Cult have teamed up to create the new OE-1 Custom Guitar. Designed by Ade Emsley and constructed by luthier Jason Burns, this high-end, premium-priced single-cut guitar looks like a real rocker!
Orange OE-1 Custom Guitar with Blast Cult
Blast Cult is one of my favourite boutique guitar brands. I recently interviewed Jason Burns over on my Guitar Bomb blog and I was stoked to hear about the collaboration with Orange. It’s nice to see his work getting recognition in the mainstream. Jason builds a mean guitar and his attention to detail is second to none.
Designed by Orange’s Technical Director Ade Emsley, the OE-1 single-cut has a solid mahogany body in a two-toned gold and ivory finish (you can opt for a custom finish, too). It has a 12” radius ebony fretboard with 22 frets, along with a custom inlay on the headstock. The hardware consists of a nickel ABM/Kalamazoo Tune-O-Matic bridge and stop bar tailpiece, plus a set of 18:1 ratio Grover tuners.
The pickups on offer are either a set of Staple soap bar P90’s or custom Mojo dogear UK Filtertrons, both of which should suit this style of guitar well. Anyone that follows Jason’s work will know his double basses and guitars are played by some top-end professional players and if you are in the market for a premium instrument, then his work should be on your radar.
This new collaboration with Blast Cult and Orange Amplifiers could be one to check out in 2021. You can watch both Ade and Jason in action in the official video below. Remember that this is not a mass-produced guitar, but a luthier-built instrument from one of the top guitar builders, so I feel the price – high as it may seem to some – is a bit of a bargain for what you’re getting.
