Nux Dual-Loop Stereo: Record and Loop All Day. Seriously.
The ultimate ambient looper and backing tracks pedal?
This pedal will equip ambient artists, live loopers, and singer-songwriters well for escalating jam sessions. The Nux Dual-Loop Stereo offers a massive loop memory of over 24 hours, two independent stereo loops, a color display, and much more. And all this at an extremely attractive price.
How much storage does the Nux Dual-Loop Stereo offer?
If you look at the loop storage of classics such as the TC Ditto 2 or the RC series from Boss, they rarely exceed 60 minutes. Most of the time, that’s fine for short phrase looping. But what if you’re looping more in the ambient genre, or layering epic drones? Then things can quickly become limited.

The Nux Dual-Loop Stereo offers a whopping 26 hours of loop storage, spread across two independent stereo loop channels. And in a single session, a loop can be up to 90 minutes long per track! In addition, if you’re looking for a simple solution for backing tracks, the pedal can also store up to 100 finished tracks.
Audio is converted to 32-bit floating-point at 44.1 kHz, so even very dynamic sound material should be processed without distortion. Important: If you want to import audio, the format must be 44.1 kHz sample rate and 32-bit stereo floating point as well.
What else can the Nux Dual-Loop Stereo do besides looping?
As is common with many contemporary looping pedals, the Nux Dual-Loop Stereo also features a drum machine with ready-made grooves. And they don’t skimp on the numbers: 42 grooves with 672 (!) variations are included! And the best part: you can set a separate drum groove on each stereo track.

Which brings us to the three modes: A/B Split, A+B Sync, and Gig Mode. A/B Split Mode is particularly suitable for looping two independent song parts, like verse and chorus, and switching between them. In A+B Sync mode, the two stereo tracks for two instruments, such as vocals and guitar, run synchronously, and you can mix in a drum groove.
In Gig Mode, both loops run completely independently, which is probably the way for long ambient sessions.
What effects and I/O does the Nux Dual-Loop Stereo offer?
The pedal offers four effects: octave, booster, cabinet simulator, and reverb (can only be applied to input 1 and the drums). All settings and the status of the two loops can be adjusted via the high-resolution color display. There are two controls for navigation (“Memory” and “Para”) and six controls for volume (loop 1, loop 2, drums 1, drums 2, mic level, master).
The Nux Dual-Loop Stereo’s looping workflow is controlled using three footswitches. Footswitches 1 and 2 start recording and playback of the two loop tracks (depending on the mode), while CTRL stops playback or clears the loop memory.

In terms of connections, the Loop offers an XLR input with optional phantom power, a jack input for guitar or synth, and a mini jack aux-in for looping in music. The outputs include a pair of stereo outputs and a mini-jack headphone output for jamming at home.
The pedal’s functionality can also be expanded via the expression input. Plus, you can synchronize it with other pedals via MIDI In and Out (mini-jack). And if you connect it to your computer via USB, you can capture the audio stream directly and integrate it into your live stream.
How much does the Nux Dual-Loop Stereo cost?
Lots of features, great quality—surely it must be expensive? The Nux Dual-Loop Stereo is available for $245 / £219 / €249 at Thomann*.

One response to “Nux Dual-Loop Stereo: Record and Loop All Day. Seriously.”

Just went through the manual especially midi mapping and this thing is a killer – you can actually do proper select modes and target each loop independently.
I am starting to regret buying the infinity 3 last year – well done Nux to put something really cool in the looper space and the price point is great too.
