Nux Amp Academy Stomp: 4K Physical Modeling with Legendary Amp Models
A very affordable Kemper Player or Nano Cortex contender!
Nux is well-known and loved in the world of multi-effects pedals, with the Trident and the MG series each having quite a fan base. With the Nux Amp Academy Stomp, they might be hitting the sweet spot between their compact amp modeler, Amp Academy, and their bigger flagship modelers.
Nux Amp Academy Stomp: TSAC-4K Physical Modeling algorithm
With its TSAC-4K White-Box physical modeling algorithm under the hood, the Nux Amp Academy Stomp simulates both preamp and power amp sections separately. That way, dynamics and response behave a lot closer to a real amp. Want to recreate that classic four-cable method or patch-jump old-school Plexi-style? You can quickly dial it in with the Stomp.

We’ve already seen (and heard!) the TSAC-4K White-Box algorithm in the MG-400, and it certainly turned some heads when it came out. With nine effect blocks, including a noise gate, compressor, equalizer, delay, and reverb, you can set up and change the signal chain directly on the 2.86” color screen.

Want stereo delays post-amp and a subtle EQ tweak before the IR? Done. Need to split the signal and blend parallel effects? Easy. Additionally, the dual-channel CYBER IR engine, featuring 1024-sample resolution, provides separate, high-resolution cab simulations on both left and right outputs. In total, you get 100 IR slots (60 factory, 40 user).
Made for the Stage
The Nux Amp Academy Stomp is not only a versatile beast in terms of the sonic territory it covers. It’s also extremely convenient to be used on stage. With 27 preset slots and three scenes per preset, it’s super easy to dial in and switch between sounds. The three footswitches are also fully programmable.

In addition, there is a global EQ, a quick tuner, and even a 30-second phrase looper (pre or post signal). You can also tweak tones from across the stage via the included NBT-1 Bluetooth module and mobile app. And with just under 2 ms of latency, changing sounds feels instant and responsive.
The Amp Academy Stomp also offers plenty of recording features, which we’ve come to expect from floor modelers in this class. Once you connect it to your computer, it doubles as a 24-bit / 48 kHz USB audio interface with USB MIDI support. That way, you can easily record your guitar with cab IRs and FX straight into your DAW.

Princeton, Jazz Chorus, and more – Premium Amp models
Compared to the six amp models the original Amp Academy offers, the Nux Amp Academy Stomp offers 19 models. Among them are classics like a Princeton, a Jazz Chorus, and a variety of Plexi stacks. As the preamp is modeled separately, you get virtual versions of EL84s, EL34s, 6V6s, 6L6s, or solid state. The included profiler is based on the proprietary Image technology. In addition to profiling your own amps, it also allows NAM profiles to be loaded into the amp block.

In terms of connectivity, the Amp Academy Stomp offers an FX Loop, a stereo output, an Expression input, both a MIDI In and a MIDI Out (mini jack), an aux input to connect your phone or other audio source to jam along with, and a headphone output.

How much does the Nux Amp Academy Stomp cost?
You can order the Nux Amp Academy Stomp from Thomann* for $265.00 / £237.00 / €269.00.
