Charvel has two stunning new, made in Japan, signature Super-Strats for Guthrie Govan and Rick Graham. Both models feature high specifications for fluid playing styles and flexibility, and look like they mean business.

Charvel Rick Graham

The Rick Graham Signature MJ DK24 2PT CM has a smaller basswood Dinky body finished in Celeste, with a scalloped lower back bout and sculpted heel to improve upper-fret access. This is paired with a caramelised maple bolt-on neck with graphite reinforcement and a soft satin finish. With this model, the neck has lovely smooth rolled edges, 24 stainless steel frets, a modern 12-16″ compound radius, along with a set of 4mm crème dot inlays and Luminlay glow-in-the-dark side markers.

Bare Knuckle Custom Pickups

This model comes with a set of custom-wound Bare Knuckle pickups, with his custom humbucker at the bridge position and a pair of single-coils. These are wired up via a five-way blade switch and a master volume and tone control.

You also have a Gotoh Custom 510 recessed tremolo, plus a set of Gotoh locking tuners and a spoke adjustment wheel for the truss rod.

It’s a good looking guitar and, for me, Dinkys are always fun to play.

RRP – EUR 2149 / USD 2699.99

Next up is the new Guthrie Govan signature model, the MJ San Dimas SD24 CM. This one features a basswood body with an ash top, in a fetching 3-Tone Sunburst finish. The model has a 25.5″ scale caramelised maple neck, again, with rolled edges and a heel-mounted truss rod adjustment wheel. You also have Luminlay side dots and Gotoh hardware.

Charvel Custom Pickups

Govan’s model has a set of custom Charvel pickups in an HSH configuration, wired via a five-way pickup blade switch, a two-way mini-toggle for single-coil simulation, and controls for volume and tone. These controls have the dome-style Luminlay knobs, with glow-in-the-dark markings.

Hardware includes a recessed, non-fine tuner locking tremolo bridge system with a pop-in tremolo arm and a brass block. It comes in at around a grand cheaper than the USA made version, and I think it looks great with that ash top.

Both of these Super-Strats will be available from September this year and are available to preorder now.

RRP – EUR 1999 / USD 2599.99
