Neumann VIS is a new piece of software that uses Apple Vision Pro’s augmented reality technology to provide a 3D audio environment.
Spatial audio is not a two-dimensional format, so this development makes sense, giving producers and engineers the power to manipulate sound sources as virtual objects and interact with them within an augmented reality environment.

On Mac, VIS offers seamless Logic Pro integration, allowing users to use the DAW from within the Apple Vision Pro environment. According to Neumann, this leverages the low-latency pass-through technology of the Apple Vision Pro, which creates a 3D virtual mixing environment.
The VIS software is designed for both studio monitors and headphones, so it can be implemented in a pro studio setting or a mobile setup. Using Neumann’s RIME plugin, it’s possible to monitor multichannel configurations up to 7.1.4. on headphones while harnessing the head tracking of the Apple Vision Pro for added realism.
In its development, VIS uses the latest AMBEO technologies that combine the spheres of virtual acoustics and augmented reality to deliver a truly immersive user experience. With this in mind, the VIS becomes a creative platform for intuitive workflows that feel completely natural and organic.
Overall, while the ability to use your immersive mixing setup visually is an exciting prospect for Logic Pro users, it doesn’t cover other DAWs. Also, you start to wonder if there is such a thing as headgear overload when you’re wearing a VR headset and a set of headphones while mixing.
