The Acoustasonic Stratocaster is the company’s latest version to feature the Stringed Instrument Resonance System that was introduced last year. This year its Strat shaped!
Stringed Instrument Resonance System
I saw this new model coming a mile off, as it makes perfect sense to make a Strat shaped version of last year’s Acoustasonic Telecasters. It’s still an ugly beast in my eyes, but if you prefer the shape of a Stratocaster then you might like the newly announced Acoustasonic Stratocaster model.
The Acoustasonic Noiseless magnetic pickup can be played on its own, or blended with the acoustic voice of the Acoustasonic Stratocaster, just like last years model. So no massive surprises there. It also has the Fishman-designed Acoustic Engine, which is again, the same as before.
More of the same?
I’ve played the Telecaster version and it left me cold, so I doubt that I will be seeking out this year’s model, even though it is Stratocaster-shaped. They should hit Fender dealers in March this year, so go check one out and let me know what you think of them.
I also think the price point on these is way over the top and it puts buyers off purchasing such an odd new guitar. They might sell a lot more if there was a cheaper Mexican version available. If I want to spend two grand on a good electric/acoustic guitar, it would probably never be on one of these.
