At NAMM 2019, Swiss brand PSI Audio will present a new three-way studio speaker – the A23-M. The speaker has a brand-new midrange driver which is also rotatable along with the tweeter. This lets you adjust the speaker for horizontal or vertical positioning. According to PSI, the speaker is good for both near and midfield applications, which sounds like a welcome bit of versatility.

The A23-M’s frequency response reaches down to 35Hz, making it suitable for work without a subwoofer. Adding to that, PSI’s Adaptive Output Impedance technology (monitors membrane movement in relation to the incoming signal) and Compensated Phase Response (time alignment of the incoming signal) – both analogue – contribute towards an authentic sonic reproduction. The speaker is powered by Class G/H amplifiers which are said to combine Class A/B advantages with lower distortion and improved efficiency. Quite the ambitious product, indeed!

Price and release date

At around USD 4000 per piece, the A23-M is geared towards the upper end of the market and audio professionals looking for a premium (Swiss-made) solution. PSI is known for products of very high quality, thus the hefty price tag is hardly surprising. The speaker will be demonstrated at NAMM 2019 and made available in May this year.
