Classic American boutique guitar amp builder Magnatone celebrates their 80th year in the business during 2019. They are celebrating by releasing a few rather nice amps during Winter NAMM.

This model has 17 valves, dual mono-block power amps with two pair of 6L6 power tubes and two GZ34 rectifier tubes and can output over 70-watts of power!

Then there is a reverb and tremolo that are all powered by a further two 12AU7s, one 12DW7 and eight 12AX7 tubes. It’ll cost you about £400 to re-valve this thing if you need spares, blimey. The built-in dual stage stereo vibrato uses another eight silicone carbide varistors to power it.

They are only building 80 of these models and I’m sure they will be highly collectable. Each one comes with a hand-engraved and numbered gold-plated plaque, plus a certificate of authenticity.

Super 59 80th anniversary edition

The Super 59 80th anniversary edition is a blend of two great amp heads. First up is the low to medium gain Super 59 Mk 2 and then they have added the extra gain stage of the Mk 1 so that you get the best of both worlds. It also has a tube buffered effects loop onboard.

The two EL-34 power valves give you 45 watts of all lovely tube power from this gorgeous looking amp. You can also order this British flavoured amp as either a head or a cab and combo.

Magnatone Super 59 80th anniversary edition

Super 15

The Magnatone Super 15 uses EL-84 tubes and has 15-watts of power. You can have it either as a compact 1×12 combo, or a separate head with matching 1×12 cab. This one is a more British flavoured amp and lower wattage reduces weight and size but keeps your tone. It’s essentially a mini Super 59, but at lower power. They’ve even added a speaker emulated output on this model to make it more flexible for home and studio use.
