Nita Strauss is officially the first ever Ibanez Signature Artist and gets her own model this year at NAMM 2018. Nita took over from Orianthi as lead guitarist for Alice Cooper in 2014 and played in the infamous ‘The Iron Maidens ‘before that.
Ibanez Nita Strauss Signature
Nita’s is one hell of a player and her guitar will have to be something special for her to put her name to it, this woman is related to Johann Strauss on her father’s side, so music flows through her veins!
Deep Space Blonde
She’s been an Ibanez official artist for 10 years, since September 2008 and so this guitar is long overdue. The Ibanez JIVA is a mahogany S Series model with a quilted maple ‘black to blonde’ burst top called Deep Space Blonde and is equipped with an Edge Zero-II bridge and has a cool dark ebony fretboard with a heartbeat for a fret inlay, just like on an ECG machine.
It is loaded with her own brand new signature humbucking DiMarzio neck and bridge pickups in the neck and bridge position (which DiMarzio are releasing for sale as stand-alone units as well), they are also designed so that the new covers make it impossible for the string to get caught under the pickup edge when playing, so having to stick tape over them like Steve Vai does on his Evo JEM. The middle single coil is a DiMarzio True Velvet single-coil unit.
I just cannot understand why it has taken 10 years for Ibanez to finally give her a signature guitar model, but I am really glad they have because she rocks!
