MOTU 848
The 848 is the latest addition to MOTU’s line of revamped interfaces, including the 16A and 828. The 848 is equipped with two Thunderbolt 4/USB 4 combo ports, one for connecting your computer or iPad, while the other adds a port for additional hardware devices in your studio.
The digital routing power is immense, with an integrated AVB switch with two Gigabit ports for low-latency network streaming of potentially hundreds of channels and compatibility with new and old MOTU AVB devices. What’s more, you have 16 channels of ADAT, allowing you to expand your system with extra preamps whenever the need arises.

The front panel is lit up with the 3.9-inch TFT display, giving you quick access to most of the key functions. Meanwhile, there are four XLR combo preamp inputs, for mics, line-level signals, or guitars, and there are DC-coupled TRS outputs for sending CV signals, as well as two insert points for outboard gear.
The 848 also has a built-in 64-input digital mixer with 32 buses and 32-bit floating point DSP, all accessible via CueMix Pro running on macOS, Windows, or iOS. The software also provides a virtual patchbay and routing grid, so you can quickly reconfigure your setup for any situation.
Finally, the Monitor Group function lets you control multichannel monitoring systems with a single fader, while the 848’s Control Room features give you three sets of monitors and talkback. Overall, the 848 is an extremely flexible interface, suitable for a wide scope of modern audio applications.
