Morphor successfully kickstarted the AP-1 plucked module last year. This time we have Ensemble, an analogue 8-voice BBD Chorus.

Ensemble

An Ensemble chorus is a familiar vibe in synthesizers, and it seems to be getting some love in the Eurorack space. We recently saw the SoundForce Chorus 6 based on the Juno chorus.

The Ensemble uses 8 BBD devices to delay the audio signal and generate the swirling modulations of a whole orchestra of sound. You have lots of control over the voice selection. You can modulate the spread of voices, there are two LFOs, one for slow movements and one for faster changes, ready to move things about and you can dictate the mix of signals by adding dry signal back in at the output stage.

The signal path is all analogue and is full of warmth for audio signals.

I confess I’m not exactly bowled over by the sound demos at the moment. I think it might need something more interesting to play with.
