Gretsch Limited Edition Quilt Classic Falcon: The Semi-Hollow to End All Semi-Hollows
Timeless design, updated features
With the new G6136TGQM-59 Limited Edition Quilt Classic Falcon, Gretsch presents a sophisticated reimagining of its legendary “White Falcon.” Visually distinctive, yet closely inspired by the ’59 classic in design, Gretsch once again demonstrates why it’s in a league of its own when it comes to semi-hollow guitars.
The new Gretsch:
Limited Edition Quilt Classic Falcon: My First Impression
“Man, is this a beauty!”—Even the very first lifestyle photo has me raving. That “Quilted Maple” top! That color combination of light brown, gold, and the white binding that even wraps around the headstock… Wow!
You could just hang this thing on the wall or put it in a display case—gorgeous! And how warm, how full can a semi-hollow sound?! Anyone who loves blues and jazz and has the necessary spare change should find this guitar to be one of the highlights of the year in the guitar world.
White Falcon 2026: The Limited Edition Quilt Classic Falcon
Since Gretsch, much like Ibanez, tends to use rather cryptic product names—such as G6136TGQM-59—I’ll refer to it here by its long “last name”: Limited Edition Quilt Classic Falcon. In other words, this is a new model from the “Quilt Classic” series.

In this case, we’re getting a reinterpretation of Gretsch’s legendary “White Falcon” from 1959. While the shape and design carry over from the model, the components and overall look are (obviously) quite different.
Gretsch calls the color “Forge Glow”. The look is built on a 2.75-inch body of figured quilted maple with a nitrocellulose finish. Underneath is 1959-style trestle bracing, which (unlike a centerblock found in most semi-hollow bodies) is designed to provide tighter bass response and more sustain (according to Gretsch). Like the centerblock design, this bracing also reduces susceptibility to feedback; however, the Limited Edition Quilt Classic Falcon generally has a louder playing volume.

The neck (standard “U” profile) is also maple, while the fingerboard is ebony. Combined with the “S/W/S purfling binding” on the body, the “Aged White” binding on the headstock, and the gold hardware and electronics, this guitar is just a feast for the eyes!
TV Jones and Bigsby
Speaking of electronics and hardware: A mighty B6GVT vibrato from Bigsby sits atop the body, along with a “Space Control” bridge. Ebony pins secure the base to the guitar’s top, ensuring the bridge doesn’t slip or move during vigorous vibrato use.

Also included: a bone nut and Grover Imperial tuners (like the original Falcons). For the pickups, Gretsch chose two TV Jones Ray Butts Full-Fidelity Filter’Tron humbuckers. They closely model the original Ray Butts Filter’Tron pickup designs and, among other things, are not waxed like more modern versions.

In terms of sound, this new, old design supposedly adds a whole new level of definition and dynamics. The pickup volume controls are located at the back of the top, the master volume control is on the cutaway, and at the top are a three-way pickup selector switch and a tone switch with three tone settings: a classic Gretsch layout.
