Joyo R-08 Cab Box IR Loader: The best value IR cab pedal on the market?

We’ve already written several times in the last few weeks about Joyo’s new R Series including the R-o1 Tauren Overdrive and the new OMB looper. Now the R series is to be expanded further with the R-08 Cab Box, a handy cab simulator that uses Impulse Responses and even lets you load up your own.

This latest pedal in the Joyo R-Series is pretty well loaded with handy features. There’s a huge built-in screen, which should make it easier to navigate. The R-08 Cab Box comes with four tube power amp simulations, 20 cabinet models and 11 mic models. But this box also lets you load up 10 of your favourite Impulse Responses at any one time to expand the sounds available. Loading up new IRs is done using the included Joyo PC software. That flexibility makes this pedal very useful.

Presets
There are 128 cab memory slots to save all of your presets, and three configurable post-EQs: guitar, bass and parametric. There are settings for Gain and Attentuation, Q value, Low and High Pass filtering for the EQ controls.
The Joyo Cab Box features XLR, headphone, MIDI and USB connectivity, so has most bases covered for recording and live scenarios. The unit has the same ambience lighting effect as the rest of the pedals in the R-Series and looks like a lot of value for the asking price. The demo video below gives you a good overview of what this pedal can do. Personally, I think this is a pretty well thought out piece of guitar gear and can see many players getting a lot of use from one.
