iZotope’s RX audio repair toolkit is certainly in demand among anyone dealing with sounds recorded in less than ideal conditions. It’s a staple in film sound post-production, and rightfully so! RX represents the pinnacle of iZotope’s research efforts, the company says, incorporating some of the most advanced sound processing technology available.
The Cambridge, MA company is set to release RX 6, the latest version, on April 20, 2017. Details are scarce, but we have learned that iZotope is extending RX’s reach to regular audio producers tasked with cleaning up recorded material. Features like mic de-rustling, dialogue isolation, and wind rumble removal are now go-to functionality, rather than something one’d do on their own with the tools provided.
The same goes for treating typical recording problems like mic bleed, sibilance, mouth clicks and breaths. Will RX 6 be able to tame a nervous singer better than a round of tequila? It might just be, as iZotope says it’s introducing its best de-esser ever with this release. We’ll have to see how it stands against excellent plug-ins like the Eiosis E2Deeser.
Post-production professionals might not be particularly chuffed with the RX 6’s “musical” direction, but past RX versions have catered to them quite well already. Speaking of past versions, iZotope is having a big sale on its RX 5 products – the complete RX 5 Post Production Suite, RX 5 Advanced, RX Plug-in Pack, and the RX 5 Audio Editor. A free upgrade to the equivalent RX 6 product is thrown in! That is:
- Buy RX 5 Standard, get RX 6 Standard free.
- Buy RX 5 Advanced, get RX 6 Advanced free.
- Buy RX Post Production Suite, get RX Post Production Suite 2 free.
So if you are yet to get any RX products, iZotope have set things up so that you can make some savings between April 6 and 19. Read more about that here.
