Unveiled at Google I/O 2022, the Google Pixel Buds Pro are wireless ANC earbuds with up to seven hours of playback time. Designed to accompany the Pixel product range, they will also work with most Android devices and feature multipoint Bluetooth. Is this the answer to the Apple Airpods Pro?
Up until now, Google has brought out some decent entry-level earbuds like the Google Pixel Buds. However, this new offering takes us into the premium end of the spectrum. The Pixel Buds Pro is easily a competitor with the Airpods Pro and any other earbuds in this class.
The new Google Pixel Buds Pro
With immersive audio capabilities and ANC driven by a custom-built 6-core audio chip, it’s not hard to see why. According to Google, a new “Silent Seal” algorithm combined with specialized sensors allows precise adjustment of the fit of each earpiece. This ANC system provides up to seven hours of use from a single charge. If ANC is deactivated, it should provide up to eleven hours play back time.
You can switch from ANC temporarily with transparency mode. This is useful in environments where you can’t focus on your music alone. The Pixel Buds Pro are IPX4 rated, which protects them from moisture. A feature that stands out though, is the Multipoint Bluetooth capability, which is not commonly found on earbuds. This allows you to listen from two devices simultaneously, which is very convenient.
The Google Pixel Buds Pro will be available for pre-order from July 21, 2022, and in stores from July 28, 2022 for $199.99
