The new IK Multimedia iRig USB audio interface offers the ability to simply record into a DAW or similar. It will work with iPad, Mac, PC, and iPhone which makes it a flexible interface for many musicians.

This new digital version of IK’s popular iRig 2 * should give users a better sound quality.

The unit is 24-bit and runs at either 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz and comes with a USB-C to USB-C cable included in the price, so iPhone 15 will plug straight in, but older models will require an Apple Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter to connect.

Outputs

With a 1/4″ Amp Out that will connect to an amp or pedalboard and a 1/8″ headphone out for silent practice, it has all the basics you could need for recording.

Plus, the standard 1/4″ instrument input and a USB-C port for connecting to your gear. It i powered by the host device, so no need for any batteries or annoying external power supplies.

It also has an FX Bypass switch on the side of the unit.

AmpliTube and TONEX

The unit also comes with access to the basic AmpliTube and TONEX amp modeling apps, which gives new users a solid set of virtual amps, effects, and cabinets to start off with.

AmpliTube 5 SE for Mac/PC and AmpliTube CS for iOS offer 80 gear models, which should be enough for most users, TONEX SE offers the power of IK’s AI Machine Modeling and it comes loaded with 200 Premium Tone Models.

Verdict

This looks like an affordable audio interface, the bundled software makes it useable straight away so it could be a nice portable solution for many musicians.
