There is a new budget-friendly USB mic for content creators in town! The IK Multimedia iRig Stream Mic USB combines USB connectivity, an audio interface, and plenty of controls to quickly dial in your desired vocal sound. How does it compare to the iRig Stream Mic Pro?

Almost to the day, one year ago, IK Multimedia introduced the iRig Stream Mic Pro. This multi-pattern USB microphone included a 24-bit 96 kHz audio interface and loads of other features. And now IKM presents the iRig Stream Mic USB, which, in essence, is a more budget-friendly version of the Pro.

The Mic USB comes with a gold-sputtered, ½” capsule and a unidirectional cardioid pattern. Just like the Pro, the USB also includes audio interface functionality at 16-bit 48 kHz. So, when you connect the microphone to your computer through USB-C, your DAW or audio editor instantly “sees” it as an audio interface. That way, you can start recording vocals (or anything else for that matter) immediately.

The iRig USB also offers a 3.5 mm headphone jack to either listen to what your DAW is playing or to directly monitor what you are recording latency-free. And there is more.

Furthermore, the iRig Stream Mic USB offers an additional 3.5mm input where you can connect your smartphone or any other audio source to record to a backing track directly. The iRig USB automatically splits the two signals – microphone and backing track – into a stereo signal for recording.

This way, you can directly stream to Instagram or TikTok and perform to your music without any additional software required! The USB microphone also offers a big volume knob to adjust your recording level on the fly.
