Ibanez has brought back its Iron Label series with three new guitars and two new basses. All new models come dressed in black and look ready to dish out some brutal riffage!
Ibanez Iron Label Series
Ibanez has brought back its Iron Label series with five new models. These metal-inpsired models include the long-awaited return of two fan favourites: the iconic Iceman, with 7 strings, and the Xiphos in both 6- and 7- string variations. That’s bad news for those hoping for a 6-string version of the Iron Label Iceman, but maybe the company will add one to the lineup sometime in the future. From Ibanez:
The Iron Label line was originally developed with metal, and nothing but metal, in mind. We modded and tweaked until we got to the heaviest-hitting metal axes we’ve ever built. They’re purposefully spartan, and you won’t find a feature here that doesn’t contribute directly to the bone-rattling, earth-shattering tones these guitars pump out. Carrying forward that same philosophy, the next generation of Iron Label guitars take this raw metal energy to a completely new level.
None More Black
The revamped series includes three guitars, the ICTB721-BKF, XPTB720-BKF, and XPTB620-BKF, and two 5-string basses, BTB625EX-BKF and SRMS625EX-BKF. As you’d expect, the axes are all finished in black and have an extreme metal aesthetic. The guitars include features such as neck-thru designs, ebony fingerboards and DiMarzio D Activator pickups. These may well be some of the most brutal looking axes in the Ibanez line-up.
The Iceman model will set you back €1,298, while the Xiphos models are priced €1,298 and €1,398 for the 6- and 7-string versions respectively. The BTB625EX-BKF costs €898 while the SRMS625EX-BKF is €998. So not really in the budget range, but you do get a matching gig bag with each instrument.
