The Harley Benton ST-Modern Plus series has been a huge success for Harley Benton. It got raving reviews from many, it offered beautiful colors, and, most importantly, these strats came with specs way better than you’d expect at this price range. Today, six new models join the series.
Sandblasted Looks
The new models all come with bodies made from American ash with a tapered heel and sculpted rear body contouring, a HSS pickup configuration (Tesla VR-Nitro Alnico 5 Open Humbucker (bridge), Tesla TV-S1M Alnico 5 Single Coil (middle), Tesla TV-S1N Alnico 5 Single Coil (neck)) and a beautiful flamed maple neck. [June 4, 2024] It’s not like we don’t have enough Strats from enough manufacturers on the market. Especially when it comes to entry-level models, Harley Benton has quite the line-up already. But the new Harley Benton ST-Modern Plus series ups the ante. These seven new models come with features and woods you wouldn’t expect in this price range.
Harley Benton ST-Modern Plus: More than a Strat
In this new series, the manufacturer has taken its Strat expertise to new heights. With the Harley Benton ST-Modern Plus series, HB is attempting to play with the big boys. How close do they get?
HB used American Alder with a tapered heel and a sculpted rear contouring. In addition, the neck (bolt-on, smooth-D profile) is made of Canadian roasted flamed maple, while the manufacturer opted for Canadian maple with rolled edges for the fretboard. Furthermore, each model comes with 22 stainless steel jumbo frets, a 42mm graphite nut, and glow-in-the-dark dot inlays at scale length of 25.5″ (648mm).
HSS and Coil-Split
Regarding electronics and hardware, the ST-Modern Plus has chrome hardware, a Babicz FCH 2-Point Z-Series C Full Contact Tremolo, and Sung-Il ML-55 locking tuners. Additionally, each model has a 3-ply pick guard that matches the body’s color.
Each model has an HSS pickup configuration. You’ll get a Tesla TV-S1M Alnico 5 Single-Coil in the neck and middle positions. Harley Benton used a Tesla VR-Nitro Alnico 5 Covered Humbucker for the bridge position that you can also use in coil-split mode through the push/pull function of the tone knob. To switch between the different pickup configuration, there is a 5-way switch.
