Future Retro are making their first foray into Eurorack with a very cool sounding drum module called Transient. They were demonstrating it for the first time at the mini Moogfest at SXSW and The Synth Expo in Austin Texas and now a demo video has emerged so we can all have a listen.

It looks fabulous. The minimalist black and white styling and those retro and yet future looking (see what I did there?) knobs are very striking. So is the LCD screen set quietly in the middle of it all. The knobs don’t have much in the way of labels. The top two are called 1 and 2 and the bottom three 1, 2 and K. What can it all mean? At the top you have trigger in, two CV inputs and an audio output.

It appears to be a sample based drum module. Watching the video (below) the top number 1 dial seems to be changing the current sound set, and there’s more than one sound going on – or it could be loop length? It’s being sequenced with trigger and accent so it could be responding to different sounds on different voltages. The knobs at the bottom seem to be about envelope, or at least the first knob looks like it’s controlling the decay. The second knob seems to be changing sounds… again. No, I have absolutely no idea what’s going on. Feel free to set me straight in the comments.

Anyway, check out the video and see what you think. There’s no information yet on the website so check out their Facebook page for the most up to date details.
