Developer Cableguys released DriveShaper, a new add-on to its ShaperBox modulation and effects kit (that you can also use stand-alone). As the name suggests, it lets you distort and saturate your audio and instrument tracks. This happens on a per-band basis, rhythmically, and with gobs of modulation options. Even better: Plugin Boutique is giving away DriveShaper for free until December 31! That’s a rockin’ Christmas gift.
As mentioned, DriveShaper is a new module in the ShaperBox series from Cableguys. This ‘container’ plug-in ties together individual effects modules (filter, panorama, time stretching, bit-crusher, stereo width, and volume) with a flexible modulation section to make for a powerful multi-effects unit.
DriveShaper adds a comprehensive distortion unit to the line-up. It offers 10 distortion styles (Soft Clip, Hard Clip, Soft Square, Hard Square, Soft Rectify, Hard Rectify, Fold 1, Sine Fold, Triangle Fold, and Extreme Fold). It is very interesting that you can, for example, modulate fragments of a loop with a custom LFO curve. There’s also a multi-band splitter to let you process certain frequency ranges while leaving the rest unprocessed. The action is visualized by a real-time analyzer.
