Fender has expanded its Tone Master Series with a new model, the Super Reverb. The amp employs a solid-state architecture with digital modeling to recreate the classic original amp’s tone.

Fender’s latest model in this ‘modern-day-DSP-equipped-reissue’ series, is the Tone Master Super Reverb, which is based on the mid-60s black panel amp circuit. Fender, of course, claims it is a “perfect replication”, although I’m sure some purists will disagree, regardless of how it sounds!

Normal and Vibrato

With a huge cabinet loaded with four 10″ Jensen speakers, you would think this combo would weigh a metric ton, but it comes in at a respectable 16 kg. This means fewer trips to your chiropractor. The amp ships with a two-button footswitch and you get the standard Normal and Vibrato channels, as well as the familiar control layout of the original amp.

200 Watts!

There are 200 Watts of power available that simulate the performance of a 45-watt tube amp. You can knock the output down to 22, 12, 5, and even 1 watt, which means you can practically use it anywhere. So live, in the studio, or practicing at home, as long as you have enough space for this beast of an amp. The 200 Watts isn’t actual tube power output, so don’t expect it to get stupidly loud. But it should be absolutely fine in a band situation, or where you need plenty of clean headroom.

Impulse Responses

The combo also benefits from having a balanced XLR line output and built-in impulse responses (IRs) captured with both Shure SM57 and Royer R-121 microphones. There is no official video demo yet, but I’m sure we will get one soon enough. So potentially one to look out for, as it offers a lot of versatility and power output options.

UPDATE 4 August

The official Fender demo video is now out and so you can hear this new amp in all its digital glory.

If they are gonna do the Super Reverb then I think they should also do the Princeton Reverb. It’ll be featherweight, lol.
