Fender Vintera Road Worn

It was only a matter of time before Fender announced these new Road Worn models. Not everyone can afford Fender Custom Shop prices, so these Mexican-made models should please players who want that relic’d look, but at a knock-down price point.

The limited edition ’50s and ’60s Strats and Teles, and a ’70s Deluxe Tele, will all be shipping from 10 September. Prices start from £1,099 for each model, which is reasonable for a model with extra finish details, such as the relic look in this case. And the price includes a Fender deluxe gig bag for each model. I expect they will sell like the proverbial hot cakes, and look forward to getting my hands on one for a review, soon.

Vintera Road Worn ’50s Stratocaster

The Vintera Road Worn ’50s Stratocaster models have an alder body and a maple neck with a maple fingerboard. The neck has a thick ‘Soft V‘ profile with a vintage 7.25″ radius and 21 vintage tall frets. Pickups are ‘50s Hot Strat single-coil models wired via a 5-way pickup switch, and it has a vintage-style six-point synchronized tremolo, tuning machines and strap buttons. The guitar comes finished in either Fiesta Red or Surf Green, and has the relicing job applied to both the body and the neck.

Vintera Road Worn ’60s Stratocaster

The Vintera Road Worn ’60s Stratocaster has similar specs to the ’50s model above. It still has an alder body and maple neck with the vintage 7.25″ radius. However, the neck on this model has a mid-’60s ‘C’-shaped profile and a Pau ferro fingerboard. The pickups are a set of ‘60s Hot Strat single-coil pickups, and the guitar is available in Firemist Gold and Lake Placid Blue finishes.

Vintera Road Worn ’50s Tele

Next up is the Vintera Road Worn ’50s Tele which also has an alder body, maple neck and fingerboard, a thick ’50s U-shape profile, 7.25″ radius, and 21 vintage tall frets. It comes with a pair of vintage-style ‘50s single-coil Hot Tele pickups, and a three barrel brass bridge with a vintage-style string-through-body Tele bridge plate. This model is available in a lovely Vintage Blonde or a Lake Placid Blue finish.

Vintera Road Worn ’70s Telecaster

We skip a decade with the next release and go straight to the Vintera Road Worn ’70s Telecaster. The guitar has an alder body and a maple neck, with a medium C profile, 21 medium-jumbo frets, and a more modern 9.5″ radius. It comes loaded with a pair of Fender Wide Range-style humbuckers – wired via a three-way toggle switch and twin volumes and tones controls – and a Strat-style string-through-body hardtail bridge with six saddles. This model looks pretty sweet in both the Daphne Blue and Olympic White finishes.
