Fender has just announced their 70th Anniversary models, as 2024 marks the anniversary of the introduction of Leo Fender’s most iconic and innovative creation: the Fender Stratocaster.
Fender 70th Anniversary Stratocaster
This Fender 70th Anniversary Stratocaster release just before the end of 2023 contains a range of Strats, each celebrating the design’s 70 years in production. Each version is very traditional, though with some modern concessions including medium jumbo or narrow-tall frets, plus a range of new finishes; Anniversary 2-Color Sunburst and Nebula Noir.
Six Strats?
Below is a summary of all the key specifications for each model and with variations, there are six new 70th Anniversary Stratocasters to choose from. Though only two models are new ones, the other two are just new finishes for the celebration.
Each version comes in at a different price point so there is something for everyone with this release.
70th Anniversary Player Stratocaster

- Flame Maple top over an alder Body, with a rosewood fretboard
- 70th Anniversary V-Mod II Single-Coil Strat (Bridge, Middle, Neck) Pickups
- 22 Narrow Tall frets
- Aged White Control Knobs
- Available in a Comet Burst finish
- Deluxe Molded Hardshell Gig Bag included
Player Stratocaster
- Alder body with a gloss finish
- Three Player Series single-coil Stratocaster pickups
- “Modern C”-shaped neck profile
- Maple or Pau Ferro fretboard
- 9.5″-radius fingerboard
- 2-point tremolo bridge with bent-steel saddles
- Now available in a new colour option, Anniversary 2-Color Sunburst
American Professional Stratocaster
- Three V-Mod II single-coil Stratocaster pickups
- Upgraded 2-Point Tremolo with Cold-Rolled Steel Block
- Deep “C”-shaped neck profile with rolled fingerboard edges
- Maple or rosewood fretboard available
- Bone nut; 22 narrow-tall frets for easy bending
- With a treble bleed circuit that maintains highs when reducing the volume
- Now available in a new colour option, Anniversary 2-Color Sunburst
- Includes Deluxe Molded hardshell case

Curious line-up. One’d expect more maple fingerboards at least. This is just nothing special imho.
