For 25 years now, Ernie Ball Music Man has been building signature guitars for legendary Toto guitarist Steve Lukather. Ther Californian maker has decided to mark the occasion with this Ernie Ball Music Man Luke 25th Anniversary LIII.
Ernie Ball Music Man Luke 25th Anniversary LIII
Compared to the LIII editions previously available, this special edition has a few cosmetic tweaks. It’s equipped with an ebony fingerboard with mother-of-pearl inserts. Other hardware changes include a custom bridge humbucker from Ernie Ball Music Man that is wound slightly hotter than normal. This is then paired with two Cutlass single-coil pickups.
And if you want to really go full throttle, you can use the push/pull function on the volume knob for a gain boost of up to 20 dB!
The LIII logo on the headstock is laser etched, and the neck is roasted maple. This model is available in only one colour, Bermuda Blue. It pairs Schaller locking tuners with the traditional Music Man bridge, so tuning stability should be perfect. I’ve always found the bridge setup on these guitars to be impeccable. Expect a smooth ride on this model.
Only 25 of these Ernie Ball Music Man Luke 25th Anniversary LIII models are being made, so they are super exclusive. If you want one, you should hurry up and probably look for it in the USA, even though availability is indicated with “worldwide”. The Ernie Ball Music Man website lists only 15 US dealers offering the model for USD 3499 each, so if you’re outside the US be aware that import duties and shipping could make it cost you a lot more.
RRP – USD 3499 plus shipping/taxes
