The new Ernie Ball Music Man John Petrucci Majesty 8-String signature model is an absolute beast of a guitar. Limited to only 100 guitars worldwide, it’s… Well, pretty insane.
EBMM John Petrucci Majesty 8-String signature
This behemoth comes in the classic Mystic Dream finish of Petrucci’s first EBMM signature model and comes with a mahogany through-neck, basswood wings, plus an ebony fretboard. The neck is a 27″ length on the bass side and a standard 25.5″ length on the treble side and has 24 stainless steel fanned-frets.
This is the first time we’ve seen a Petrucci signature guitar with a hardtail bridge. I suspect it will be a pretty substantial bit of hardware to hold all that string tension, whilst helping to keep all the dynamics of his playing style.
This guitar comes with a set of his signature DiMarzio Dreamcatcher in the bridge and Rainmaker neck pickups, that are slanted to handle the extended range of the design. The wiring is pretty extensive and includes a three-way pickup selector, plus a three-way toggle that adds in the piezo bridge system. You also have individual volume and tone knobs fitted with push/pull controls for a gain boost on the volume knob, plus custom two-pickup combinations, this time on the tone knob, and finally a push/push mono/stereo output.
Majesty 8: 100 Guitars
Each of the 100 guitars will be numbered 1 to 100, and ship with a Petrucci-signed Certificate of Authenticity and an autographed cavity control cover. That will, no doubt, make them popular with his many fans, who will surely snap them up. It is his first production 8-string signature model and having owned one of his original Mystic Dream 7-string models myself, I can only imagine the neck on this 8-string will be huge!
