Ernie Ball Music Man has announced new finishes for its popular Axis model for 2021. Available in both the locking and vintage trem versions, and with flame and quilt maple tops.
Ernie Ball Music Man Axis 2021
You can now get the Ernie Ball Music Man Axis model in either a Roasted Amber or Yucatan Blue finish, which can be applied to both the flame maple or the quilt maple top. The new finishes are very tasty, but I think the blue just edges it for me in terms of which looks best.
Locking or Vintage
These EBMM Axis models are based on the original Eddie Van Halen signature models, so their design lineage is great. As standard, they come with a locking trem system, but you can also order the more traditional Axis Sport with a vintage trem if you prefer.
Specifications include basswood bodies, roasted and figured maple necks, and a choice of flame or quilt maple tops. They come loaded with a set of custom DiMarzio humbuckers which are wired via a three-way switch and single volume control.
These are high-end USA built guitars with great specifications, along with a loyal fanbase, so I can see these two new colours being popular. You will pay a slight premium for the quilt maple top on both versions.
RRP – Axis Quilt Maple Top USD 3199 and Axis Flame Maple Top USD 2999. Axis Sport Quilt Maple Top USD 3149 and Axis Sport Flame Maple Top USD 2949
