The new EHX Pico POG squeezes a Polyphonic Octave Generator into a tiny footprint. Perfect for cramped pedalboards and anyone that needs some fun with octaves.

Electro Harmonix has just announced the new Pico POG and it manages to give players an octave above and below the original signal polyphonically. Making this tiny red pedal an even more streamlined version of the Micro POG *and Nano POG *.

Controls
It has controls for Sub Octave, Octave Up, Dry and Tone, as normal, plus a new Filter switch.
By dialling the amount of octave up and octave down, users can create all sorts of great sounds, from rumbling basses to faux 12-string tones and beyond.

Three Modes
Then just blend in the amount of the original dry signal they require and tweak the tone control to taste. The tone has 3 filter modes which are controlled by the Filter switch.
In Tone mode, it acts like a Tilt-EQ for all three voices at once. Offering a flat frequency response in the middle, with more treble and less bass as you turn the knob clockwise, or less treble and more bass as you turn the knob counterclockwise.
Then when it is in Low Pass Filter mode, the knob cuts highs in the Sub and Octave Up voices. Finally, the High Pass Filter mode cuts lows in the Sub and Octave Up voices.

The Pico POG is the first release in a new line of smaller effects, so we should see more pedals at some point very soon.

Verdict
This looks like a lot of fun and having the smaller footprint is going to be great for a lot of musicians. I also like that the pedal ships with the power adapter included in the price.
Previous POGs from EHX are known for having lightning-fast tracking with precise octave tones and so this little pedal could be a winner in this new format. Mike Matthews has done it again.
