DSM & Humboldt Simplifier X gives guitarists a zero-watt amp with six classic amp voices, speaker/cabinet simulation and onboard reverb.

The Simplifier X is DSM & Humboldt‘s latest foray into zero-watt amp solutions for guitarists. It combines everything into one compact and versatile unit, including stereo operation, studio-grade cab sims, onboard reverb, dual preamps, and a host of six great guitar amp voices to work with

It follows on from the Simplifier MK2 and the Simplifier DLX. Both are already popular units and this latest version ‘X’ version builds upon that reputation.

What’s in the Simplifier X?

Six carefully crafted preamplifier voices over two completely independent channels
Channel A delivers high-gain hot rod sounds and channels the AC Brit TB, the rebellious USA Rod and the iconic MS800 Crunch.
Channel B revisits the essential classics: the bright AC Brit, the warm USA (modelled after a ’59 Bassman), and the powerful MS Brit for British Plexi tones
Reverb: Space, Plate and Ether Textures
Three different operating modes: Full Parallel, A/B switching, Dual Mono

Connectivity

The connectivity includes XLR DI outputs for stage or studio, while standard 1/4″ outputs (with cab sim bypass) cover you for most eventualities. It also features a dedicated dry signal path for re-amping and a headphone output.

It is housed in a rugged aluminium alloy enclosure with a sandblasted frosted black finish. As with all their products, it is built to work on the road and should last a lifetime. Everything in the unit is analogue except the onboard digital reverb.

DSM & Humboldt have a knack for making great-sounding products that are compact, flexible and built to last. This latest model will be popular with many for all of those reasons. The video demos all sound very good, and the flexible, stereo nature of this latest Simplifier X will make it a winner for many guitarists.
