Danelectro has just updated its ‘64XT and ‘59X12 guitars with a cool new Ice Grey finish. You can also now finally grab the ’57 and ’59 models the company teased on Instagram and announced at Winter NAMM earlier this year. Read on if you’re a fan of these classic ’50s instruments.

Danelectro ‘64XT and ‘59X12

Danelectro has just added a new Ice Grey finish with a black ‘Marble’ pickguard to its ‘64XT and 12-string ‘59X12 models. I think the new colour option looks great and suits the lines of the instruments really well.

Both guitars have dual lipstick humbucking pickups in the bridge position, which can be split for what the company describes as ‘sparkly clean jangle’, and a large housing single coil in the neck position. The ’64XT comes with a modern Wilkinson vibrato bridge and a graphite nut, whereas the ’59XT has a fixed bridge and aluminium nut setup.

Thomann currently has the new ’64XT in stock for considerably less than the official RRP here*.

RRP – Danelectro ’64XT  GBP 899 and 12 string ‘59X12 GBP 649

Danelectro ’57

First announced in January of this year, the new Danelectro ’57 is now finally seeing an official release. When the model was initially teased on the company’s Instagram page, it made quite a stir. The guitar is available in high gloss Jade Green and Limo Black finishes, and looks like it’s jumped straight out of a ’50s catalogue. It retains the classic look of the original 50’s U2 model, with its clear see-through pickguard with the ‘D’ motif and perimeter strip, and that unmistakeable ‘coke bottle’ headstock we all know and love.

The guitar is loaded with a pair of Vintage 50’s lipstick pickups, made using sand-cast and then sand-blasted Alnico 6 magnets housed within thin wall 80/20 brass/zinc tubes, just like the originals from the ’50s. I also prefer the new, more modern and fully adjustable six-point chrome bridge, as it will make intonation much easier and is a huge improvement to the old design.

Once again, you can find both models on Thomann for a lot less than the official RRP here*.

Danelectro ’59 Divine

The Danelectro ’59 Divine, teased along with the ’57 on Instagram earlier this year, has also been officially released. It has a fully adjustable bridge, a set of Gotoh tuners, and the same pair of Vintage 50’s single coil lipstick pickups.

The guitar is available in Dark WalnutFlame Maple, or Fresh Cream finishes, which is off set with front and back cream body bindings.

You can find the ’59 Divine here* on Thomann, and again, for much less than the RRP.

RRP – GBP 899
