Tunca from Analog Obsession is back with another unique compressor plug-in. SPECOMP is a heavily modified version of BUSTERse, Analog Obsession’s emulation of a certain console’s bus compressor. As such, it has all the essential controls: Threshold, ratio, attack, release, make-up gain, knee and even a mix knob. What’s special is that SPECOMP is a spectral compressor, or, as Tunca puts it, “magic is happening inside!” Use SPECOMP as a “glue compressor” to help mixes come together.

SPECOMP is available for Windows and macOS in VST, VST3 and AU formats.

To get this plug-in for free, you must first create a user account on the ANWIDA Soft website (it’s $12 without an account). But then you can download this useful little tremolo plug-in. There’s nothing unusual here: You can adjust the rate and depth of the effect and use the degree knob to set the curve of the modulation. The developer says that the plug-in delivers a very clean sound and uses 64 bit internal precision and “highly optimized DSP code”.

Tremolo is available for Windows and macOS in VST3 and AU formats (64 bit).

Instead of wasting time on the GUI, it appears that the folks at Audio Freakout have concentrated on the inner workings of this useful stereo tool. Cheap-Trick Stereo Enhancer is designed to expand the stereo image. You can choose to apply the effect to the low end, high end or both, and adjust the threshold and resolution. It can be used on the main mix or individual tracks. The developer claims that the plug-in is much less CPU-hungry than most similar effects.

Cheap-Trick Stereo Enhancer is a VST plug-in for Windows (32/64 bit).
