Baby Audio Beat Slammer: Pumping Parallel Compressor

Just before Christmas, Baby Audio released Beat Slammer as a free gift to the audio community. Like their other freebies, Beat Slammer features a square GUI with simple controls. But don’t let the simplicity fool you: Under the hood is a hard-hitting parallel compressor based on Baby Audio’s IHNY-2 plugin. If you’re looking for an aggressively pumping compressor that makes your beats bounce, you’ve come to the right place. The X/Y pad lets you adjust the compression amount and dry/wet mix simultaneously, making it extremely easy to find the sweet spot. Great for smashing drums, loops, or even entire mixes!

Beat Slammer is available for macOS and Windows in VST, VST3, AU, and AAX formats.

Chaos Audio Starlight: Shimmering Night Sky Reverb

Chaos Audio has pulled the Starlight algorithm from the Stratus multi-effect pedal and released it as a free plugin! Starlight is a shimmer reverb that delivers lush, ambient tones with plenty of twinkly high-end swirls. The Space knob sets the size of the reverb, while Lumens dials in the amount of shimmer. In addition, Starlight has Tone and Mix controls to shape the sound of the reverb and set the overall amount. While it’s not as sophisticated as other shimmer reverbs like Solaris or Supermassive, Starlight makes it easy to get that shimmering tone that sends your tracks straight to the stratosphere.

Starlight is available for macOS and Windows.

The Department of Sound Ecoslap: Plate-based Slap Delay

Ecoslap by The Department of Sound delivers the popular slap delay effect, but with a twist! The plugin is derived from the developer’s Ecoplate plate reverb. Instead of a very short delay, Ecoslap uses the plate reverb’s shortest decay time to create a more organic and analog-sounding slap delay effect. You can adjust the pre-delay time and shape the sound with the high and low pass filters. In addition to this, Ecoslap offers input and output controls with level meters, as well as a mix control.

Ecoslap is available for macOS and Windows in VST3, AU, and AAX formats.
