Analogue Solutions Generator is a 3 channel 16 step, analogue sequencer in a nice low profile desktop case. Now they are making it available as a Eurorack module that’ll drop straight into your rack.
It’s unchanged other than the lack of a steel case and power socket. At 84HP it’s likely to take up a whole row of your rig but it’s the sort of thing that looks neat and tidy as a permanent resident.
Generator is a versatile multi-channel sequencer with 3 channels of 16 steps that can be used for pitch or modulation. It’s quite cleverly and creatively put together to work more as a coherent whole than as independent channels. The first two channels have gate outputs the third has an inverted gate. They are bound to a single pattern and length which is derived from the manipulation of 4 “patternator” knobs. The knobs of channel 2 are internally lit and display the current gate pattern. The lights on channel 3 show the current position. And then there’s the Voltage Generation section which are 6 touch-plates which output voltage set by their own knobs. The can be used to transpose the sequence or as devices by themselves. There are intensity and fill CV inputs and lots of ways of getting into the patterns and sequencer in a performance. It’s a lively, intuitive sequencer that invites you to play.
I’ve done a full review video of the desktop version below.
The Eurorack version will cost a little bit less at £599 and you can buy it direct from Analogue Solutions.
