The Jude Mic Preamp gets its name from the famous “Hey Jude” sessions done at Trident Studios in 1968 on one of the early discrete, transistor-based consoles by Sound Techniques that became the A-Range, introduced in the early 1970s. Because only 13 of these original consoles were ever made, Warm Audio has decided to recreate the rare preamps and add them to its production line.

The Jude mic preamps have been meticulously created using the original Geoff Frost Sound Techniques circuit design. With a Class-A dual-discrete 3035 gain amplifier and custom CineMag and nickel transformers, the Jude-MP carries a similar transient response and sonic character to the original A-Range preamp.

More Information

Depending on the impedance setting, which is variable, the Jude-MP provides between 65 and 76 dB of gain with its ultra-low-noise circuit design and a frequency response of 10-25,000 Hz. This allows you to capture any source, from vocals and acoustic guitars to pianos and drum overheads- anything you want to give a little analog character.

For accurate impedance matching, both the single- and dual-channel Jude preamps are equipped with a Z-Match control with nine different settings. This lets you choose between three different gain settings (-15, -7, and 0) for each of the three input impedance settings, which include 60 ohms, 200 ohms, and 1.5 kohms.

Whether you’re using modern or vintage dynamic, condenser, or ribbon mics, this lets you optimize the gain and sensitivity to coax the best recording from your chosen source. In addition, the Jude-MP also functions as a high-quality DI, perfect for recording guitars, synths, or drum machines through its analog circuitry.
