After Native Instruments became a part of the InMusic brand, we’ve all been wondering what will happen to iZotope and its flagship post-production tools, Ozone and RX. Well, it’s taken a while, but the brand has finally found a new home at Boris FX, alongside a stable of video, VFX, and audio production tools.

If you aren’t familiar with Boris FX, you probably don’t work in post-production, as their lineup includes a range of popular video production tools such as Sapphire for lighting effects, Mocha Pro for planar tracking and masking, and the Vegas Pro editing platform acquired from MAGIX earlier this year, along with Sound Forge and Acid Pro.

On the audio side, Boris FX also owns the Sequoia mastering DAW and Samplitude, as well as the AI-powered restoration software CrumblePop. Boris FX has been aggressively expanding its stable recently, and the RX industry-standard post-production suite will certainly fit right into this lineup. However, what does this mean for the more music production-focused tools?

Of course, I’m referring to plugins like Ozone, Neutron, and Nectar, which are tools that have become essential aspects in the workflows of countless music producers, composers, and engineers. Well, the good news is that iZotope’s entire team of developers, engineers, and support staff is seamlessly moving over to Boris FX, which is reassuring.

What’s more, in his welcome address, Boris FX CEO, Boris Yamnitsky, cites examples like Imagineer, GenArts, and Silhouette as industry tools that were acquired and evolved over the past 10 years. If anything, it could mean that the iZotope team will be stepping up development in their new home at Boris FX, and that’s an exciting thought.
