Bumpboxx BB-777: Classic Styling, Modern Formats, Massive Power
The Bumpboxx BB-777 revives the gold standard boombox of the 1980s, the Sharp GF-777, but updates it with Bluetooth, USB playback, and a rechargeable battery.
Bumpboxx BB-777
The 1980s were great for a number of reasons. One was the sheer variety of boomboxes available. From the small and portable to the ones so big, you had to balance them on your shoulders, there was no better time to be into hi-fi with a handle than the ‘80s. Modern company Bumpboxx knows this, and for its latest release, it’s taking inspiration from perhaps the pinnacle of the era’s boombox technology, the Sharp GF-777.

The result is the Bumpboxx BB-777, a modern take on the tech that includes not only the look but also all of the formats that you need, from cassette and CD to USB.
“For Bumpboxx,” says the company, “the BB-777 represents more than a product release. It marks a decade of persistence, cultural continuity, and belief in the power of physical sound.”
Champion Sound
Let’s look at the sound specs first before we get into formats. The BB-777 boasts a block-rocking 270 watts of power, which is more than enough to annoy everyone on the bus (and possibly earn you a pinch on the neck from Mr. Spock if you’re not careful). Handling all that power are two 6.25-inch super woofers with independent channel gain, an additional two 6.25-inch coaxial speakers for mid-range duty, and two horn tweeters to push out the highs as well as a chambered bass enclosure.

All that power is going to heat things up, so the fine folks at Bumpboxx have even provided a fan to cool the amplifier and ensure thermal stability during extended high-volume playback.
All-Format Playback
Back in the day, you got a radio and a cassette, and that was enough. But we do things differently in 2026. Accordingly, the Bumpboxx BB-777 offers almost every format you could want.

Check it: you’ve got Bluetooth connectivity for wireless streaming and TWS support for pairing two units; USB audio playback to handle MP3, WMA, WAV, FLAC, and ACC file types; a dual cassette deck with recording and high-speed dubbing, a suction-loaded CD deck with CD, CD-R, CD-RW, and MP3 compatibility; a radio with AM, FM, FM stereo and even shortwave and standard wave; and an auxiliary input with an RCA adapter for going in live from external sources.
Get Vocal
If you’re saying to yourself, “Wot, no karaoke?” then you need to keep your shirt on, because the Bumpboxx BB-777 isn’t about to let the singers down. It has two wired microphone inputs with independent volume and echo controls (echo! So ‘80s!), two built-in mics if you need to take a memo, and a headphone output as well.

Cannot Stop the Battery
Old folks like me can remember spending all their lawn-mowing money on D batteries to keep their boomboxes running during breakdance battles. Thankfully, those days of burning through batteries are gone. Instead, the BB-777 comes with a 97.6Wh rechargeable Li-ion battery with up to 15 hours of playback on a single charge. It’s TSA-approved, and with that much play time, you could provide entertainment for the entire flight from Los Angeles to Tokyo – and then some. You can even swap batteries out if you’re, say, flying all the way to Sydney.

You can plug into the wall too, of course, with a convenient 100–240V AC input for worldwide compatibility.
Fringe Benefits
Other cool points to take notice of include a 4.5-inch dot matrix LCD display for playback status and system information, removable magnetic front grilles, two screw-on telescoping antennas, and an integrated shoulder strap.
