Synth Deals of the Week!
Pittsburgh Modular Voltage Lab 2
Has it been 18 months already since the Pittsburgh Modular Voltage Lab 2 came out? This reimagining of the Voltage Lab concept brought a lot of Pittsburgh Modular’s new design and technology into play and it resulted in a fantastic sonic playground.

The unique oscillators combined with the legendary buttery Pittsburgh modular filters delivered a rich and rewarding sound, which could then be processed by the very capable effects section. There were function generators and a vast array of patch points, plus a touch-sensitive performance strip.
Originally priced at €2,149, you can now pick this monster synth laboratory for a mere €1,499 until December 29th, 2025. That’s a whopping 29% off and would keep anyone happy over the holiday season! Probably the best of the synth deals this week!
Arturia MatrixBrute Noir
Without question, one of my favourite monophonic synths and quite possibly one of the greatest mono synths of all time, the Arturia MatrixBrute showed us just how powerful and flexible a monophonic synth could be.

It has the classic “sit-up-and-beg” front panel with knob-per-function interaction. It clearly draws from the grand-daddy of all mono synths, but this beast has real bite! That gnarly sound is delivered by the amazing Brute oscillators that can be fed through a classic ladder filter and also a Steiner-Parker variant.
That second filter works so well with the Brute oscillator, and coupled with the trio of LFOs and envelopes on offer, the MatrixBrute comes into its own with the unique matrix modulation panel. Routing possibilities appear to be endless as you start moving sounds around all the parts of this synth.
And then, if that wasn’t enough, there’s a brilliant analog FX section and an absolute ton of connectivity at the rear. Originally made in gun metal grey and tan wood end cheeks, Arturia gave it the Noir makeover so it now looks as sinister as it sounds.
KORG Modwave MKII
KORG updated the modwave to Mk.II status a couple of years ago, and it has become a solid addition to KORG’s Pi-based synth line-up. Like those other synths, it takes its inspiration from KORG’s rich legacy, in this case, the DW-8000.

But this isn’t just a DW-8000 in a modern case. It is way more than that and takes the wavetable concept of the DW and pushes it way beyond. It brings Motion Sequencing to the game and KORG’s unique KAOSS Physics function, complete with X/Y pad.
With 2 wavetable oscillators and a sub oscillator in each voice, these can be shaped by one of 12 different filter types, including filters from other KORG classics like the PolySix and MS-20. There’s a ton of envelopes, LFOs and the aforementioned motion sequences, making the modwave hugely versatile.
With a software editor and librarian application, working with the modwave and its deep and complex architecture is straightforward, and there’s plenty of room for your own creations.
Oberheim TEO-5
Oberheim’s affordable Obie, the TEO-5, recently got a firmware update that gave it the ability of polychaining, so if you’re looking to expand your existing TEO-5 setup, now is the time to do it, with almost 20% off!

The TEO-5, like its Sequential cousin, the Take 5, is a 44-key compact but powerful way to get that classic American sound without needing to break the bank, and now you get more bang for your buck at this great price.
Just because this is a small synth, don’t be fooled by its diminutive stature, as it really packs a lot into that small case. Dual VCOs and a sub per voice, a classic SEM filter, a five-stage DADSR envelope generator with an arpeggiator and 64 64-step sequencer.
The TEO-5 also has dual 24/48 FX, including all the usual suspects, and there’s room for 512 patches, split equally between factory and user slots. The TEO-5 is a true powerhouse and even better value now than ever before!
