While Atomic Reverb Free by Molecular Bytes doesn’t offer all the bells and whistles of the fully featured Atomic Reverb 2 plugin (€79), it’s still a very capable algorithmic reverb that can deliver a wide range of spaces. Based on the same algorithm as the full version, Atomic Reverb Free offers the same natural and musical sound in a streamlined plugin with a slightly slimmed-down feature set.

More Information

This being the free version, you only get one tail type, as opposed to three in the full version. You can of course adjust the room size and reverb time, as well as the pre-delay. The early reflections section offers a choice of 23 types and a stretch parameter.

The free version has slightly fewer sound shaping options than the full version, offering only basic low and high shelf filters, as opposed to a full 5-band EQ in the paid plugin. That should still be sufficient in most cases though, and you can always shape the reverb tail using an external EQ if needed. You can find the full feature comparison between the free and full versions on the developer’s website.

Atomic Reverb Free is available for macOS and Windows in VST3, AU, and AAX formats.

DigiDestroy by HOFA Plugins does just what it says: this hard-hitting bitcrusher will turn your tracks into a digital pile of rubble. Simply adjust the bit depth and sample rate and add a healthy dose of hard clipping to send your signals down the digital drainpipe.

Compared to the paid version (€30), the free version offers only one instead of three clip modes. You’ll also have to make do without adjustable jitter. Still, the free version has everything it takes to destroy any signal in the most unforgiving way.

DigiDestroy is available for macOS and Windows in VST3, AU, and AAX formats.

This year marks the 15th anniversary of the Lado b mastering studio in Sucre, Bolivia. To commemorate the occasion, the studio teamed up with Borealis Audio to create the Lado b mastering plugin.

More Information

While I don’t think the included processors are based on any specific hardware, the developers say that the plugin is meant to recreate the studio’s signature sound. Lado b includes an EQ, a compressor, and a harmonic distortion stage with Triode, Pentode, and Tape modes available. There’s also a master section that allows you to activate the individual modules and apply parallel processing.

Lado b is available for macOS and Windows in VST3, AU, and AAX formats.
