Thanks to its integration into the Komplete Start bundle from Native Instruments, the EQ can also be seamlessly combined with a wide range of other free tools. This makes Ozone 12 EQ ideal not only for beginners, but also for anyone looking for a precise EQ for mixing or mastering.
Ozone 12 EQ is a Free Equalizer with a Delta Function and Mid/Side Option
The plugin is technically based on the well-known algorithms from iZotope’s Ozone 12 mastering bundle, but is delivered as a standalone solution. This means it can be used with any DAW, regardless of whether you already use Ozone. The ability to choose between analog and digital EQ models is particularly useful. You can either gently color the sound or edit it surgically, depending on what the material requires. In addition, the mid/side mode ensures that the frequency response in the stereo image can be adjusted precisely. For instance, if you want to clean up the mids slightly or reduce the highs only in the side area, you will find this to be a very accessible tool.
Another special feature is the Transient/Sustain mode, which enables you to edit the attack and release components of a signal specifically. This can help enhance punch and clarity in the mix, especially when mastering or editing complex bus signals, without having to resort to a compressor. In addition, the Delta function makes it possible to hear the changes that the EQ is making to the signal, a feature more commonly found in high-priced tools.
