[10 June 2025] Teenage Engineering’s Field System Black darkens the colorway for the portable studio set, which includes new versions of the mixer, recorder and microphone. Available now!
A few weeks ago at Superbooth, Teenage Engineering announced black versions of its portable Field System devices (see below). Starting today, you can order the Teenage Engineering TX-6 Mixer, TP-7 Field Recorder, and CM-15 Condenser Microphone in black from Thomann*. The system also includes the OP-XY instrument, which was already black.
Teenage Engineering Field System Black
[09 May 2025] Teenage Engineering has announced a new version of its Field System. Called Field System Black, it paints the mini devices in the portable set black.
If you’re unfamiliar, the Field System includes the TP-7 audio recorder, TX-6 compact mixer, CM-15 condenser microphone and OP-XY instrument. The Teenage Engineering site also lists the OP-1 Field as part of the series, but that will not be getting a new paint job. (And the OP-XY is, of course, already black.) We’re big fans of all of these – and not just the design.
Teenage Engineering Field System Black: Meet the Team
The devices in the Field System Black are all identical to their original silver counterparts, just with distinctly darker liveries. They are:
- TP-7: The TP-7 is a portable digital recorder with three configurable audio jacks for inputs, outputs and headsets. It also has a built-in microphone as well as USB. It features multitracking, allowing for up to six stereo tracks per file. You can also edit.
- TX-6: What may be the world’s smallest mixer, TX-6 offers six stereo/12 mono channels with individual effect sends, EQ, compression, master effects, a built-in MIDI clock and also beat-tracking. It also features a synthesizer and drum machine.
- CM-15: CM-15 is a large diaphragm capsule microphone with three gain settings and a built-in preamp.
Teenage Engineering Field System Black: Price and Availability
Teenage Engineering’s Field System Black is slated to hit stores on 10 June 2025. Prices for the black TP-7, TX-6 and CM-15 versions should remain unchanged.
