The H4essential provides 32-bit 96 kHz recording on four tracks using the integrated X/Y stereo condenser mic system and dual XLR combo preamp inputs with phantom power. Recordings are captured onto microSDHC card (up to 32GB) and microSDXC card (up to 1 TB) in WAV, BWF, or iXML format, and the device also functions as a bus-powered USB audio interface.
This allows you to use the H4essential as your recording front-end on macOS and Windows desktop systems, as well as iOS and Android devices. Navigating the interface is made easy with the 2-inch colour display that gives you a session overview, while the built-in speaker lets you immediately hear back any of the recorded material.
In the field, you can power the H4essential with a pair of AA batteries, or you can use a portable USB power bank. For video capture, it can become a part of your camera rig, and you can add the HS-1 hot shoe adapter for quick setup and the BTA-1 Bluetooth adapter for timecode sync. Overall, the H4essential is compact, versatile, and easy to use.

There is no cost involved to enter the raffle, but you must reside within the European Union and be at least 14 years of age to participate. It’s important that you only enter the raffle once, as you will be immediately disqualified for attempting to enter multiple times. If you are selected, you stand to win a Zoom H4essential handheld recorder.
Any participant who selects the correct answer is eligible. You will be entered into the draw, wherein a random generator selects the winning entry. As the lucky winner, you will be notified, either by us or by the manufacturer, who will request the delivery address via email. This makes it imperative that you enter a valid email address. Any employee of GEARNEWS.com and its associated companies, and their family members, are not eligible to participate in the competition.
Your data will be stored only for the purpose of this competition, and will not be shared with any third parties. Participants have no right of appeal, and there is no cash prize alternative. The competition runs from Monday, December 22, 2025, to Monday, December 29, 2025 (23:59:59 CET). Any entries received after this date will not be considered.
