So maybe you’ve just upgraded to V Collection 11, or you’ve finally taken the plunge and bought into it for the first time. Either way, you will be astounded by the wealth of presets that come with each instrument. But they might not float everyone’s boat, so here are some suggestions to expand and enhance your V Collection experience.

And before you rush to buy these individually, make sure you read through to the end!

Generation Supersaw

For me, one of the most exciting new synths in V Collection 11 was the Jup-8000 V. Besides it making me feel old (I was at the launch of the original Roland JP8000), it also brought back many memories, not least with that amazing Supersaw waveform.

That synth became the poster boy (or girl) for the trance generation, and it was the Supersaw that was, by and large, responsible. Jup-8000 V faithfully recreates that special waveform along with the rest of the original hardware.

Generation Supersaw delivers 150 fantastic presets inspired by that classic sound and uses more than just the Jup-8000 V to take you back a quarter of a century to classic Trance nights of old! One of my favourite factory patches in Jup-8000 V is called ‘Ascension Melody’. It’s a one-finger anthem with the filter cutoff mapped to the aftertouch.

There are another 54 inspiring sequences in Generation Supersaw, along with 28 bass sounds and 34 leads. There are also healthy smatterings of pads, keys, effects, strings and piano to maximise your performances.

Jersey Beats

If big, booming basses and glitchy beats are more your thing, then Jersey Beats has got you covered. This pack makes use quite a range of V Collection instruments with the Jup-8000 V at the fore again. However, my other favourite V Collection 11 newbie gets a good share too!

Pure LoFi is Arturia’s brilliant new and original addition to V Collection, and it’s a really inspirational instrument that you can get seriously lost in. It allows you to combine multiple samples, fed through various models of vintage sampling gear, then added to noise generators and filters.

Jersey Beats also brings in three of the newly-updated Augmented instruments, namely STRINGS, GRAND PIANO and VOICES, the latter of which is definitely one of my favourites. There are also two dozen presets for MiniFreak V. If you’re new to MiniFreak V, I strongly suggest you get into it.

In terms of presets, there are lots of drums, basses and leads, as well as sequences to get the creative juices flowing. The vocal patches are very cool too, and everything here will definitely inspire you to make some great tracks.

Orchestral Waves

The last of these three new preset packs for V Collection 11 is Orchestral Waves, and if your thing is creating powerful and cinematic soundscapes, then you definitely want this collection of big, impressive and powerful sounds.

As the name suggests, this bank makes use of five of the seven Augmented instruments that all got upgraded to v2 with the new V Collection 11. I will admit that when Arturia first brought these out, I was uncertain of their appeal.

However, the proof of the pudding is in the eating and I was blown away by so many of these instruments and the supremely clever way the Arturia developers melded acoustic and synthetic sounds in such a useable and clever way.

Unsurprisingly, the bulk of patches here are pads, all 42 of them, but there’s an awful lot of sequences here too, as well as strings, vocals, brass & winds and keyboard sounds. This time, MiniFreak V, Synthx V and Pure LoFi dominate proceedings but there’s lots of Augmented patches and plenty of the new kid Jup-8000 V too.

Pop Orchestral Waves into your basket here for €29.99.
