Endorphin.es has two interesting new Eurorack modules: Total Recall will remember voltages and Two of Cups offers 8 banks of samples in two voices. Both of these are neat 6HP modules that bring something a bit different to your modular. Let’s check them out.

Two of Cups

It may have a strange name but you’ll find some great functionality in this 2-voice sample player. It comes with 8 banks of 24 samples on a microSD card and uses 8 or 16-bit samples with a 12-bit output bitrate. Load a bank up onto each voice and choose the sample manually or via CV.

Each voice has pitch and Trigger/Gate control and manual trigger buttons so you have everything you need to play the samples without having to patch in anything else. You also have an on-board envelope with decay control. If you introduce a clock you can also roll the samples by holding the the trigger pad – great for those fills.

The factory bank was created by Endorphin.es own Julia Bondar. They suggest that  you can get into some very experimental soundscapes with creative samples, or  “use it the boring way and simply play drum one-shots off it.”

Two of Cup is a nicely straightforward module although I find their mode and bank switch system something of a challenge, waiting for lights to blink to tell you which bank you’re on.

Total Recall

Now, this is the perfect name for a module that stores voltages like presets and lets you recall them. It’s designed to help with transitions on live sets by controlling 3 CVs at once with a single knob. Total Recall is both a Preset Manager for up to 8 presets and a Macro CV generator over 3 channels.

Use the 3 knobs to set the voltage value for the outputs at the top and then save it as one of your 8 presets. You can then recall them manually or via CV and they can gently morph between them or switch straight to it depending on the setting of the Smooth switch. In trigger mode you can have each preset switched to in turn from a clock or trigger sequencer.

In macro mode you define the min/max voltage limits for each of the 3 outputs and then use a single knob to move all 3 about in that range of voltage. Alternatively, you can use a trigger to flip the states of each channel from minimum to maximum and back again.

Lots of interesting possibilities in this module. The 8 presets in particular could be used as built-in repeatable variations within your modular and your live performance.

Prices and availability
