The Tierra Audio Gravity Mix & Master is an analogue VCA compressor with advanced mastering features and a versatile digital recall system.
The tree-friendly audio company, Tierra Audio has spent years developing a system to take the already formidable Gravity bus compressor into the mastering realm.
With the demands of mastering workflows, this was no easy task. However, the Gravity Mix & Master does not disappoint, with a bold new venture into digitally controlled analogue circuitry.
Tierra Audio Gravity Mix & Master
Like the Gravity, the new Mix & Master edition is a 1U VCA compressor with controls for threshold, ratio, attack, release, and make-up gain, but that’s about where the similarity ends.
For starters, the Gravity Mix & Master allows you to customize the resolution of threshold, make-up, and blend controls to suit your workflow. As the style of compression used in mixing or live sound differs vastly from mastering, this Multi-Resolution technology is an exciting prospect.
In addition, the sidechain is extremely flexible, with separate left and right inputs and high-pass, low-pass, and notch filter functions. Furthermore, there’s an Automatic Gain Reduction Assistant to quickly achieve the gain compensation level you’re after.
The Gravity Mix & Master offers stereo, dual-mono, and mid-side processing, with configurable A/B/C presets on the front panel that give you fast access to your most frequently used compression settings.
With the digital recall system, there are some really impressive features. Besides the inclusion of factory presets and the ability to create your own, you can also share them with the rest of the TA Community.
What’s more, for users in the live sound environment, there are TA Live Stage templates with the ability to do automation. Meanwhile, the Gravity Mix & Master connects via USB, Ethernet, WiFi, and Bluetooth, with a free plug-in for AU, AAX, and VST3 AU formats as well as a web interface for mobile devices.
Overall, it promises to be a high-precision instrument, perfect for professional workflows and offering the same high standard of audio processing quality we expect from Tierra Audio.
