Announced back in March, the new Gibson Noel Gallagher J-150 limited edition model finally hits dealers today. The guitar is the High Flying Birds and former Oasis guitarist’s songwriting partner and has been used to write some huge hit records during his career.
Gibson Noel Gallagher J-150
The Gibson signature model for Noel Gallagher is based on his original J-150, that has travelled the world with him and is the guitar he wrote many of his most famous songs on. It made its first appearance in the promo video for the classic Oasis track “Little By Little,” so it is obviously quite a large part of his life.
The guitar is quite a looker. It comes finished in a Vintage Sunburst and features a solid Sitka spruce top, and AA maple back and sides with 5-ply binding on the top, and 3-ply on the back. You get an unbound neck and headstock, and an Indian rosewood fingerboard inlaid with MOP crowns. This new recreation even has the same Adidas Trefoil sticker placed on the body above the 15th and 17th frets. Electronics include an L.R. Baggs Anthem pickup and preamp system mounted in the sound hole.
With only 200 of these models being produced, they are sure to sell out pretty quickly and potentially become a collector’s item in the future. It sounds like it could be a great player and one that should be taken out and gigged with. Sadly, I suspect a lot of them will end up being kept in their cases as an investment. You can hear Noel talking about the guitar and his relationship with it in the official video below.
RRP – USD 4299
