PolyBrute Secrets from GEOSynths

Jamie Morden of GEOSynths has been designing sounds for numerous hardware and software synths for many years. His work is very well known and he also writes factory patches for the likes of Sequential, GForce Software and many others.

Released last week, Secrets Vol.3 is the third instalment of patches for the magnificent Arturia PolyBrute. This fantastic synth continues to impress. It’s a six-voice analog polysynth with one of the most expressive interfaces out there.

As well as the two VCOs, there’s a Ladder and Steiner filter that can be used in series or parallel. A ton of modulation is possible via the three LFOs and it has a beautiful FX processor built in. As well as the regular pitch and mod wheels, the PolyBrute features a ribbon controller and the unique Morphee pad. Recent updates have only made this synth even more powerful.

Boasting 96 unique patches, Secrets Vol.3 is full of incredible sounds that really show off the unique qualities and modulation capabilities of the PolyBrute. Volumes 1 & 2 are still available and there is a compendium of all three volumes available for a discounted bundle price of $99. Individual banks are $39 each.

All three banks are available directly from the GEOSynths website. The PolyBrute and PolyBrute Noir Edition are still available at our affiliate partner, Thomann for €2,499.

Omnia Soundset for TAL-Pha by The Unfinished

No sooner had TAL announced the arrival of TAL-Pha, there were third-party patches available for it straight away! One such patch bank comes from The Unfinished. Called Omnia, it is available as a regular edition with 150 patches. An expanded Fjall Edition features an extra 70 ‘cinematic trance’ patches for just £5 more!

Created during their time testing and compiling factory presets for TAL-Pha, the inspiration for Omnia comes from artists with a strong cinematic and techno vibe. Imagine Lorne Balfe, Cliff Martinez and Olafur Arnalds.

Like GEOSynths above, The Unfinished are prolific producers of patches for software synthesizers. Omnia runs the gamut of strong, powerful basses and big, lush evolving pads. It really shows off TAL-Pha as the brilliant emulation of the Roland Alpha Juno 2 that it is.

Omnia Standard and Omnia Fjall Edition are available to buy and download directly from The Unfinished website. TAL-Pha can be purchased directly from TAL and should be available at our affiliate partner, Plugin Boutique, soon!

SMAOLAB FX Morphing Parameter Controller for Max For Live

Max For Live is one of the huge extra features of Ableton Live Suite. It’s a powerful and complex tool for designing almost anything you can imagine. Such is its complexity that many people, myself included, leave it up to the boffins to create cool stuff.

FX Morphing Parameter Controller is one such M4L plugin. It manipulates any parameter in Live and any VST/AU plugin parameter, morphing them together. Each parameter is represented by a sphere or node. Moving a ball through these changes the morphing effect. The closer you go to the centre of the zone, the stronger the effect.

It’s very much like a traditional XY pad, but goes some way beyond that. You could take a number of different effects parameters and create not only new sounds, but new sequences and animations. If you hook each track up to separate outputs in Live and then feed those to separate speakers, you can cerate wild 3D experiences.

FX Morphing Parameter allows you to control up to eight parameters at a time. You can control it via your mouse or any MIDI controller mapped to it. All of your movements can be recorded and recalled as your heart desires.

FX Morphing Parameter is free and downloadable from SMAOLAB’s website. Ableton Live Suite 11 is available now and will include a free upgrade to Live 12 when it is released if you buy v11 now.

I genuinely cannot understand who would pay 2500€ for a premium synth with hands on controls… and then spend 40$ for presets.

    Please enlighten me

I would. Well, can’t spend 2500€ on PB now but I often buy presets for my softsynths because I’m shit at programming them but need interesting sounds quickly. Sue me 🙂

I think Matt (The Unfinished, one man show afaik) would make a great guest on PSN show.
