Instruo is one of the most creative makers of Eurorack modular out there. Every new module that appears seems to be full of delight and a certain amount of mystery. You’ve only got to look at the arbhar granular audio processor to know you’re in another league.

The important thing about arbhar is that it records. So you don’t load up samples and scan them in a granular fashion you record in on-the-fly. To this end, it has an integrated condenser microphone built into the front panel so you can capture and get working with what’s going on around you. There are 6 layers of sampling available, each up to 10 seconds in length.

The scanning is of course CV controllable and you can manipulate the density and length of grains. The LED lighting behind the front panel brilliantly indicates where you are on the waveform. You have pitch control and random pitch deviations which you can also apply in a similar way to the playback.

You have controls over Spray and Intensity which adds movement to the grains within the set range.

Much of the CV control is available on these little expander modules which are included with the arbhar but let you mount them elsewhere to keep the cables out of the way.

You can also use the microphone for FFT analysis or for triggering recording.

There’s a lot in this very engaging module that’s in need of a thoughtful demonstration. Here’s a quick view and I’ve got to agree with comment:
