TA Programming has released an unassuming little silver/grey box that claims to offer a full control system for your synthesizers. How does it do that? Through MIDI, CV, USB, MPE and some clever tuning and control software.
Studio MIDI & CV Interface
It’s a box that can take in MIDI and spit it out to 4 CV outputs, MIDI out and USB to your DAW. You can route to the 4 CV outputs directly from the MIDI In or from your computer. These could all be pitch outputs from different MIDI channels or pairs of pitch/gate or you could combine them to take MPE control and map it to your CV controllable synth or Eurorack modular.
It has an inbuilt tuning feature for handling the differences between octave ranges in analogue synths. So that any incoming MIDI can be correctly tuned to your gear.
If you wanted to add further CV outputs you can daisy chain up more of the Studio MIDI & CV Interfaces or use the forthcoming expanders which could be very cool.
The MIDI Dashboard software gives full control over the routing and configuration. It also includes tools such as LFOs, arpeggiators, Polyphony, keyboard splitting and MPE configurations.
The Studio MIDI & CV Interface looks like a useful MIDI-to-CV converter box that can be used with or without a computer to control multiple MIDI and CV enabled synthesizers.
Here’s another video where they show off the ability to take an MPE controller and map it to other synthesizers.
