Have you ever had that frustrating experience where your carefully crafted sound in the rehearsal room doesn’t translate to the stage? It’s a common issue, especially for guitarists using a pedalboard with a pedal amp that goes directly to the PA.

What you hear in your headphones or monitor speakers can sound completely different from what you’re used to. The Strymon PCH is a stereo DI with its own monitoring, specifically designed to address this exact issue.

Stereo DI

Options for stereo DIs are more limited, but as stereo pedalboards become more popular, it’s not always practical to use two separate DIs. The Strymon PCH solves this by providing a single solution for three key needs: stereo signal, pedalboard-level input, and dedicated monitoring.

That issue isn’t limited to pedal amps. Even with a traditional DI, the higher output level of a pedalboard can be too hot, causing unpleasant distortion. This is especially true when compared to the direct signal of a bass or synth. The Strymon PCH is designed to handle this, offering plenty of headroom to prevent signal overload and unwanted distortion.

Recording & More

The Strymon PCH isn’t just for gigs. Its “Active Direct Interface” is also a great tool for practicing at home. Many headphone outputs on pedal amps and practice amps are low-quality, with insufficient gain and a noisy signal. The PCH features a high-quality, low-noise headphone amplifier, giving you a crystal-clear, studio-quality sound, even at low volumes.

In terms of connections, the Strymon PCH offers a stereo input, a thru connection, and a stereo XLR output. It also includes a headphone jack with its own volume control. For clean sound on stage, the XLR output features a ground lift to eliminate hum and a switch to toggle between mic and line levels.
